If I can ever get back out that way to see my granddaughter I’ll make a stop by your place. I have two of the Winchesters. One is a Sears Ted Williams and the other is the one made in 1948 that I gave you the lever pin stop screw out of. I have determined that it didn’t get too hot in the fire so I am putting it back in service. I think my TW is about the same age as yours. My brother was going to give it to me but I found out he wanted a handgun so I gave him one in return.
It hard to tell where my Ted Williams Winchester falls on the serial numbers. It doesn’t have a Winchester serial number it has a Sears serial number. The best I can figure out is I‘m reasonably sure it was made in 1972. The 94 I’m working on is from 1948.
I’ve seen the pictures of it. I would have just liked to have admired it up close. I was just curious if it was about to same age as one of mine. It wasn’t finished when I was at his house.
If memory serves, it was made in 73.
mitch, it is going to be mine until 3 years after I die. I ride fast motorcycles so you might want to plan a visit soon.
The ones that turn plum started around 1964 and end in 1981 but they are mixed in not all 94s made in that time do that.
!964-1968 ser.# 2,700,000-3,185,691.
1968-1972- 3,185,692-3,806,499.
1972-1981--3,806,500-5.024,957.
If you open up the action and shine a good light in side and you can see a hint of plum color then it is a good chance it will turn plum.

There are certain ser.# that will turn that plum. The next one I can find I want to add a gold plaiting on the screws and hammer and trigger.

What did you need to see?. I think it was made around 1970.
